ABSTRACT

We begin this chapter by presenting four guidelines for making classroom research decisions that focus on ethics and equity as well as community contexts. We discuss academic researcher choices and actions that are consequential for the quality of research relationships and the integrity of project findings. Using common research dilemmas, we emphasize the importance of intentional decisions to share vulnerability, increase transparency, ensure equitable participation, and communicate in more meaningful ways throughout the research project . In the second half of the chapter, we share specific examples of how classroom researchers can be more intentional in applying these guidelines in ways that honor research partners and their communities.
