ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a historical overview of ELA and its evolution and discusses how historical truths are focal to antiracist teaching. An outline of how to engage in antiracist ELA instruction through critical pedagogy and the everyday practices of antiracism in the classroom are included. Also discussed is how to SHIFT existing lessons with annotated examples.
