ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the issue of specific harms produced by the foods we eat, including but not limited to obesity, diabetes, and mental health conditions. The chapter also delves into the issue of deaths associated with diet, as well as the enormous health-care costs produced by poor diet and physical inactivity. The chapter illustrates what a healthier diet would look like and then revisits the issue of whether people really have a choice when it comes to issues like obesity and diabetes.
