ABSTRACT

Within the construct of education, education provision in Australia, Riteways has a starting point for educators that needs to be further along or more expert than beginning or novice teacher training. Stronger Smarter, as the largest Indigenous education training initiative, uses the ‘Cultural Competency’ model as the guiding frame of its Stronger Smarter Leadership Programming. This corpus of work and focus is being supported further, nationally, via the new AITSL Cultural Competency attainment model.

The national training agenda focuses on impacting behaviours and practices. Riteways, to be effective, needs to start; educators can effectively engage in sustaining curriculum and pedagogical developments by beginning further along the cultural competence/capability frameworks.
