ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the role that trade shows and exhibitions play both as an integral part of the conventions industry but also as an important segment of the business events sector in their own right. The chapter explains the history and development of trade fairs and exhibitions and the relationships between conference and exhibition organisers. It describes the functions and staging of exhibitions, including the planning, marketing and management of such events. The chapter concludes with a summary of the key trends impacting the trade fair and exhibitions sector.
