ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the variety of impacts that conferences and conventions can have on the countries, cities and communities that host them and on the delegates and attendees who take part in them. The chapter describes the factors affecting conference sector demand and examines the economic impact of the conventions industry. It also assesses the social impacts and legacies of conventions and business events, as well as the environmental impacts and sustainability issues.
