ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces readers to casting architectural concrete, the mold materials, and the types of concrete best suited for architectural applications. The chapter includes recently built case studies with mold materials such as foam, rubber, wood, three-dimensional printed carbon fiber–reinforced plastic, and steel. It also includes traditional Portland or white cement concrete, ultra-high-performance concrete, polymer concrete, wet-cast glass fiber–reinforced concrete, and composite concrete panels. In all case studies, the concrete has been custom designed and manufactured for a particular project.
