ABSTRACT

This chapter attempts to lace the five studies with theoretical perspectives. It attempts to understand the way the social structure of tribal villages has been neglected in the Indian context. This chapter highlights the relevance of this study and what structural features emerge from these studies and how they contribute to the theories of social structure. It attempts to present a picture of the social structure of tribes identifying their similarities and differences. Finally, the chapter deliberates on the changes in the contemporary tribal social structure. It locates this comparative study within the larger domain of anthropological studies of tribes in Gujarat and India.
