ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a description of the dream series. The dreamer, who is also the author, started his dream diary in 1984 and recorded 12,679 dreams until the end of 2016. The reports were hand-written after awaking. At a later point, the reports were transcribed and tagged with over 1,000 keywords, in order to facilitate analysis; for example, occurrences of family members, schoolmates, and friends were coded. In a second step, different topics – for example, pain perceptions – were analyzed in a more detailed way – e.g., the question of whether the dreamer had experiences such a pain sensation in his waking life.
