ABSTRACT

First, this introductory section provides an overview of the concept of culture as it is represented in this book. Next, it describes the procedures by which the materials were generated and selected, emphasizing selectivity, feasibility, compatibility, and practical usefulness. After this, an example entry (“Vexillology: The Science of Flags”) is included, annotated to show the different parts of each of the subsequent entries in the text. Finally, there are some comments on the connections of this text to cross-cultural psychology, noting its limitations and the need for extensive and wide-ranging study for a full understanding of the subject.
