ABSTRACT
Charity is prescribed by all major world religions and is essential for economic functioning. For instance, donated care by physicians is built in as an expected contribution to economic models of health care even in cultures such as the Netherlands where private insurance and public support of health expenses have reached a steady equilibrium (White & Eijkholt, 2015). Likewise, pro bono contributions are expected from other professions including law and psychology.
