ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the move from design to delivery, and presents a possible pedagogical approach for its delivery. Teachers generally consider the selection of classroom music content based on what it is that musicians are generally regarded as needing to know and to be able to do. A common categorisation worldwide is thinking about the music curriculum as broadly comprising aspects of music knowledge-that and music know-how-to. Learning to play chords on the ukulele will be the activity, the know-how-to content selected to learn about these chosen concepts. The pacing for this activity will be weakly framed as students work alone or with each other, possibly over a number of weeks. The vibe is likely to be informal with students arriving in class and moving straight into their DAWs to progress their work.
