ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the first of five tasks in exploring the global problem of bullying, Delimitation of the Problem. It defines bullying and describes the actors involved, various manifestations of bullying from the schoolyard to the family, workplace, politics, and even to serious human rights violations such as human trafficking, torture, terrorism, and genocide. It examines the underlying root causes of bullying, which may be familial, psychological, cultural, environmental, and even epigenetic.
