ABSTRACT

The Studio Pathway is a metaphor for an educator’s journey to development of a creative environment that supports learning across content. This chapter illuminates how and why teachers and students can be artfully engaged in altering the learning space to set a container for creative practice. Co-creating a container for learning is key to the work for navigating cultural shifts, building trust, and setting a collaborative and collective mindset. The authors engage school leaders in consideration of their planning processes in regards to use of space, and discuss theoretical frameworks in connection with building foundational pedagogical stances grounded in equity, the arts, and cognitive science.
