ABSTRACT
This chapter highlights the stages of treatment of brain injury from onset diagnosis to discharge of the patient back to the community as well as recommended outpatient therapies. Brief discussion of disorders of consciousness is explored. The chapter draws heavily on the current research of the treatment process from diagnosis in inpatient facility to reintegration into the community. Patti Foster shares her story of recovery through the various stages of treatment to address her severe traumatic brain injury.
