ABSTRACT

This chapter offers an overview of the brain’s anatomy, concentrating on several regions commonly impacted by brain injury, especially the brainstem, cerebrum, cerebellum, cranial nerves, hypothalamus, pituitary gland, amygdala, and hippocampus. Within the cerebrum are four lobes: frontal, occipital, temporal, and parietal. Further description is provided detailing how a brain injury may adversely affect each area.
