ABSTRACT

The cognitive deficits are one of the reasons that brain injury is not recognized for its severity. As the one of the two ‘invisible’ deficits, the chapter identifies the cognitive challenges such as difficulties with attention and concentration, processing and understanding challenges, memory loss, lack of awareness, disinhibition, and egocentricity. Adaptive and coping strategies are described at various stages of recovery. The role of cognitive rehabilitation therapy is addressed to treat the cognitive deficits that accompany brain injury.
