ABSTRACT

In this concluding chapter, we share five ideas that summarize important ideas from the book and will help teachers implement the approaches and activities in this book in their own classrooms: 1) Grammar instruction is most successful when it is viewed as a tool for effective writing, 2) mentor texts are an excellent way for students to understand the impact of grammatical concepts, 3) students learn from opportunities to apply their knowledge of grammatical concepts, 4) reflection is an important aspect of students’ experiences learning about grammar, and 5) strong grammar assessment aligns with and informs a toolkit-based instructional approach.
