ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the grammatical concept of complete sentences. It begins by describing key features of this concept, such as how complete sentences contain a subject and a verb, express a complete thought, and conclude with end punctuation. After that, the chapter discusses the importance of complete sentences to effective writing, emphasizing that they convey ideas in clearly structured and easy-to-understand ways. Next, the chapter presents a classroom snapshot section, which describes Kasey’s experiences teaching her students about complete sentences. The chapter then provides key recommendations for teaching students about the concept of complete sentences and a bulleted list of final thoughts on this topic. It concludes with a flowchart and two infographics that highlight important information and examples from the chapter.
