ABSTRACT

Building on the descriptions of various types of math action technologies introduced in Chapter 2, this chapter articulates a set of framing questions to guide teachers in making decisions about when (i.e., for what topics) using a technology tool would be beneficial to student learning and if it is appropriate, deciding which tool is most appropriate given one’s learning goals. It includes advice from the Tech-Math Teachers about how to make these decisions, including the practical aspects that need to be considered for a teacher’s specific context. The chapter concludes with a set of guiding questions to help teachers plan for deciding when to use technology-enhanced tasks and what technology to use.
