ABSTRACT

This chapter picks up a thread first seen in Chapter 1. How a person with no heroic intentions answers that simple but challenging question—what is being asked of me right now as I sit with my team in this meeting? A meeting where I am not the most senior or junior person present. Where we have known each other for a while and I think, with a degree of confidence, I am respected and valued. For my work and commitment to trying to do the right thing. The sort of person others want to talk to when things do not go so well in the meeting. When a conversation in the café is needed to de-brief, have a moan, rehearse what would have been said if people could have spoken.
