ABSTRACT

Chapter 13 is a finality of the previous 12 chapters. It begins with a statement about race in the works of social scientists such as Andrew Hacker. Reference is made to the origins of humanity that is not equated with colorism or racism. Once transgressions evolved, they were carried to some extent by the traditions of culture that included religion. Pivotal events that rallied against racial oppression such as Nat Turner’s rebellion are worthy of mention. The following evolution of colorism associated with attractiveness which served racism is framed in a context of education, occupation and income. This informs an explanation of the Bleaching Syndrome whereby colorism facilitates health problems especially stillbirths which victimizes women of color. The chapter concludes with a commentary pertaining to modern-day technology. Assisted by modern-day communication technology the norms and traditions of Western culture have come to dominate humanity worldwide. The sole solution for reversing this trend brought by communication technology will require same to elevate diverse cultural norms on par with the West.
