ABSTRACT
The unanimous decision was reached that the husband was acting out of place in speaking in such a way and implying such a thing of the queen mother, who warranted more respect than that. He was obliged to apologize to her and her family, as well as to the chief and elders, and to pay for the judgment proceedings. The labor of women in the house, certainly, enables men to produce more wealth than they otherwise could; and in this way women are economic factors in society. In virtually all existing cultures, women’s work, though usually invisible to the male eye, sustains the economy and subsidizes the profits, leisure time and higher standard of living enjoyed by individual men, private corporations, and male-dominated governments. The value of our observations lies not in believing they hold true in every instance, but rather in developing a mechanism for approaching new information.
