ABSTRACT

Richard Perales was an architecture student at the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria in Lima, Peru, when Francis Alӱs came to realize his massive 2002 undertaking When Faith Moves Mountains for the Third Ibero-American Biennial of Lima. Perales was instrumental in organizing student participation in the work, which required about 500 participants. A strike the previous year prepared him with the network he needed to accomplish the task. He also participated in the project, which now circulates as a video installation.
