ABSTRACT

This book provides the conceptual basis (see Chapters 2–4), and evidence (see Chapters 5–7), for social finance responding to specific aspects of global health challenges. While social finance has the ability to act in these ways, currently, it does so with differing degrees of success. Nonetheless, exploring the potential role of forms of social finance in responding to specific aspects of global health challenges generates new thinking and evidence relevant to those operating in health systems and social finance and those trying to bridge the gap between them. This chapter first presents a high-level summary of the main ideas of the book and outlines contributions to two broad areas: new tools for action and impact measurement.
