ABSTRACT
This chapter is the second of two chapters that considers unlimited war. It begins by offering a brief geo-strategic overview of the period immediately prior to the Second World War, building on the analysis from Chapter 3. The chapter then offers three more detailed case studies that offer practical evidence: war in the west 1940–43, the Mediterranean 1940–43, and the Pacific War. It then offers a conclusion.
