ABSTRACT

Little attention has been given to the state of executive education ecosystems in reskilling and upskilling business leaders for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). This gap in research must be filled as the survival of business schools is dependent on their capacity for change in the context of the 4IR. Referring to the 4IR as the most transformative and disruptive innovation, the authors note that its impact will continue through AI and technologies, with massive repercussions for the global economy and reskilling of the future workforce. As corporations increasingly assume the role of executive education provider, business schools are hard-pressed to disrupt their present model with an executive education ecosystem that can train business leaders and their managers to reskill and upskill their workforce in the post-pandemic era. This chapter presents various opportunities to meet this need, from lifelong learning to distance learning programs, and emphasizes the importance of collaboration to move towards an innovative executive education ecosystem.
