ABSTRACT

The urgent need for reskilling and upskilling Fourth Industrial Revolution leaders is now being met outside business schools. The “open talent economy” has generated an open market of providers for upskilling and reskilling, with large companies now offering training focused on ensuring candidates’ skills and competencies are in line with future workforce needs. The authors thus emphasize that engaging C-level business executives and business schools in cooperative partnerships to shape the future of innovative executive education ecosystems is critical for guiding corporate and academic policy with shared goals. The chapter offers examples of initiatives that focus on skills building and credentialing and the deployment of intelligent learning solutions. It also introduces the second part of this book that focuses on business school–industry partnership case studies and best practices.
