The feel-good relationship building also comes with the not so good when times are hard, such as during the pandemic, with unusually intense challenges, or when performance is not up to snuff. Diversifying the voices around the table with an active board or advisory network, utilizing consultants, and leveraging resources creatively to remedy issues are ways we keep the bond with the company strong. The recognition of using the private sector and the capital markets to address biodiversity, climate, and social equity is now a reality. Many of EcoEnterprises Fund’s portfolio companies offer fixes to these risks and represent the path for future investment and impact gains. Many funds will typically have a specific focus, such as a particular asset class, region, or industry. Each impact investing strategy seeks to balance varying factors – financial and impact objectives, risk, liquidity, resource capacity – and allocate capital, manage investments, and assess performance to maximize their outcome objectives.
