ABSTRACT
By using religion (Christianity) and religious denominations (Catholic and Protestant) as proxies for political culture, the evidence presented in this chapter sustains two claims. First, cultural conditions such as the pervasiveness of the Christian/Catholic population have an impact on accountability and political stability but not on other dimensions of good governance. Second, the presence of a Protestant culture/population has no impact on any dimension of good governance.
