ABSTRACT
In this chapter we explore the relationship between (political) culture and accountability. In doing so we use four different conceptualizations of culture. Culture is conceptualized as familism, civicness, secularism, post-materialism. By operationalizing each of the conceptual constructs and by performing some statistical analyses, we find that culture matters, but that some aspects of culture are more important than others.
