ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors have worked together on the study of entrepreneurship and the management of small businesses for more than 20 years. During that time, they have published articles on a wide-range of topics related to the problems associated with starting and managing smaller firms. The authors present ten cases that provide important insights into how entrepreneurs overcome the practical problems of establishing new businesses and dealing with decisions about the growth of those businesses. These case studies include: Active Profile, Fit Co, Fume Co., Innospace (Manchester Metropolitan University Business School), Jazooli, Machine Co., Packaging Co., PPE Ltd., Spark Revolutions Ltd., and Wigan recycling.
