ABSTRACT

Environment asks the engaged stage manager to be mindful and invested in the many dimensions of an environment. Considerations include different genres like opera, dance, concerts, circus arts, and corporate events. Stage managers can also consider how the nuances of physical environments inform the process, including the physical venue, geographic location, and whether all or part of the process occurs in a virtual space. Regulated or unregulated production environments inform how people work and contribute to a process. The stage manager can effectively influence collaboration when they take time to consider the environment in which a performance or event will unfold.
