ABSTRACT

This chapter will ask how school leaders can implement these ideas successfully so that a whole school approach can be taken to ensuring consistency throughout a child’s school years. The ideas in this book are grounded in theory and have been evidenced as being of high impact on raising attainment in schools. Yet, too often teachers and school staff cast valuable evidence- based approaches aside, claiming they are ineffective. This chapter will use implementation science to offer a framework on how to implement these ideas successfully at a whole school level so that they are most likely to yield positive results. We will go through each stage of the framework to address the challenges in implementing this metacognitive approach throughout a school, ensuring effective design and evaluation.
