ABSTRACT

To help support effective implementation of this metacognitive approach to teaching (or indeed any approach), it is essential to bring parents and carers with us. They can offer tremendous support for children at home studying and often do not know how to best help them. This chapter will focus on how to get meaningful parental engagement, how to develop a relationship with parents, and how to reach out to parents that are often considered the hardest to reach. We will then consider what key information about the book’s approach should be shared with parents/families.
