ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on using drama strategies to support the writing of speech bubbles, comic or graphic texts and playscripts in the primary school. It also includes a strategy to encourage summaries of the main points in a play or story. It looks at how to create an extra section of a story and how to focus on quality script writing by limiting the time frame using drama strategies such as freeze-frames, improvisation and performing playscripts. Advice is also offered on how to encourage children to improvise and write scripts that focus on quality rather than quantity.
