ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces readers to the array of vocational applications of Sociology outside of the university. The intention of this chapter is to compliment the exploration of the sociological perspective as a scholarly discipline with how it can be practised in a career. The chapter includes numerous examples of how the sociological perspective and sociological research skills relate to key problems in government and industry so that readers are aware of how Sociology is relevant to a future career. The chapter discusses a wide array of job opportunities in both government and private industry for Sociology graduates, mentions internships, and outlines how certain subjects in Sociology can be presented in a CV.
