ABSTRACT

Chapter 1: Introduction to Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Practices. This chapter serves as an introduction to the concept of mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) practices. The purpose of this book is explored, describing how school-based professionals can use mindfulness and ACT practices in the school setting to support the mental health needs of the students they serve. An introduction of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) model in the schools, including universal and school-wide supports (Tier 1), small group work (Tier 2), and individualized, intensive intervention (Tier 3), is offered. This book follows an MTSS model throughout.
