ABSTRACT

Chapter 6: Mindfulness and ACT Strategies for Classroom and School-Wide Programming. This chapter overviews mindfulness and ACT practices that can be implemented in the classroom and/or as a school-wide program (a Tier 1 intervention). Specific suggestions for incorporating mindfulness and acceptance-based techniques into the classroom and throughout the school day are offered. A detailed description of a variety of structured classroom and school-wide mindfulness programs is provided, including a review of the empirical support and implementation considerations for each program. Recommendations on how to select the right mindfulness program for specific student populations, school settings, and desired outcomes are then discussed.
