ABSTRACT

The introduction to the book places the auction in the broader context of price-determination methods. It explains the reasons underlying the usage of auction instead of traditional ways of selling. Furthermore, it outlines the history of auctions from ancient times to contemporary days. It explains the rationale for this book and the objective thereof. It problematises the literature gap in comparative studies of auction sale. It explores the reasons thereof and explains the comparative method applied in this book. Lastly, it presents the readers the structure and content of the book chapter by chapter, outlining the subject matter, key problems, arguments, aims and structure of each chapter.
