ABSTRACT

The third chapter focuses on the future-proof regulation of harmful manipulative “subliminal AI systems”, as warranted by the scientifically proven effectiveness of subliminal messages in manipulating the human mind. This effectiveness is expected to increase with the convergence of AI with other innovative technologies, and must therefore be met by novel legal strategies so that different laws, including but not limited to the AIA, the GDPR, the DMA or the DSA, are better integrated. As an analogy to “synaesthesia” or a greater union of the senses, it proposes the concept of “legal synaesthesia” as a de-fragmentation technique and a conceptual framework to ensure greater coherence between different laws and regulations in the future.
