ABSTRACT
In conclusion, the book stresses the global importance of regulating AI, in general, and AI systems using harmful manipulative “subliminal techniques”, in particular. As confirmed by scientific experiments, AI in combination with other novel technologies or tools not only allows for the manipulation of the behaviour of consumers but also has already been found to cause wider societal harms, such as interference with the outcomes of elections, or incitement to hatred, discrimination, and violence. In essence, the book advocates the protection of the minds of everyone from undue manipulation to secure the exercise of “free will” and respect for human dignity in an era of AI.
