ABSTRACT

The final chapter of this book offers examples of solutions and good practices to design a more equal academia in the CEE region. The author presents ten identified difficulties that women face in academia and offers how to overcome them on the individual, institutional, and policy level. The chapter may serve as inspiration for decision- and policy-makers on how to design equality in higher education institutions in CEE and beyond. The chapter discusses the problem of the motherhood penalty, sexism and harassment, lack of women in decision-making, lower social capital, missing work-family balance, and the invisibility of work. The final part considers how to create norms that last.
