ABSTRACT
This chapter describes Ethereum's Layer 2 rollup-centric vision and the Ethereum Roadmap. We start by examining why scaling is a problem for Ethereum and how Ethereum aims to address this with the use of rollups, including optimistic rollups and zero-knowledge rollups. We conclude with a whistle-stop tour of the Ethereum Roadmap and the leading edge of Ethereum research and development.
