ABSTRACT
Kinderchat is an online educational professional group that was started in 2010 by Amy Murray and Heidi Echternacht. Over the years, educators from Canada, Jamaica, England, Northern Ireland, and the United States have led other educators in topics of conversation surrounding early childhood education. It is authentic professional development, done voluntarily and without credit or compensation. Yet, few, if any, provide the everyday teacher with the guidance and practical outline she needs to be able to incorporate more child centered, differentiated, developmental, and content rich practical projects into her curriculum while still maintaining coverage of the almighty standards. Grounded in early childhood philosophy, this book offers a sense of discovery, playfulness, imagination, and spontaneity to elementary school academic work and subjects, while keeping skills in the foreground. Besides going slowly, the most important thing to know about each of the projects outlined is that they are playful.
