ABSTRACT
Chapter 5 discusses naming, an issue which is often assigned little priority by technologists, but which can have profound effects on the interactions which occur between humans and artefacts. The chapter provides examples of the attribute transferral which often occurs with named artefacts, highlighting the possible psychological and sociological implications of name selection.
