ABSTRACT

This chapter continues to explore the primary research analysis area by focusing on how age-friendly schemes can be evaluated in terms of their success as models of community development. The key role of network development and stakeholder engagement is discussed as a means by which wider development opportunities have been progressed and how funding opportunities and grant aid have helped some schemes to make major inroads to developing age-friendly communities. The scope for greater integration of business perspectives is also examined in relation to older people's leisure time, along with the embryonic nature of the visitor economy as an area for age-friendly growth and development.
