ABSTRACT

This final chapter is a review of the implications of this study for the further development of the age-friendly movement in the UK. It reviews the nature and scope of the findings and presents a critique of the social and spatial issues raised by the study. The critique draws upon the interviews and research literature to offer a candid assessment of the age-friendly model. The chapter also examines the context of ‘friendliness' as a concept now pervading many areas of public life and whether this might dilute the age-friendly concept. The chapter also looks at other agendas with which the age-friendly paradigm might interconnect to broaden its scope.
