ABSTRACT
This unit serves as an introductory guide to Emirati Arabic grammar and workbook. It highlights Emirati Arabic as a variety of Gulf Arabic dialects, spoken in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and neighboring regions. The chapter discusses the linguistic variations within Emirati Arabic and the influence of Modern Standard Arabic and English on the dialect. It also addresses the diglossic nature of the UAE’s linguistic environment and its impact on language acquisition.
