ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 examines ethical, trauma-informed, and accountable approaches to documentary filmmaking. We take an in-depth look at representation, subjectivity, and colonialism in nonfiction filmmaking and how this transpires in the real world. This chapter offers reflections from various filmmakers, writers, and film bodies on the growing call to bring a deeper ethical engagement to the nonfiction form.
